What does the Bible say about healing?

What does the Bible say about healing?

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

"But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:5

"A righteous man will have many troubles, but the Lord delivers Him from them all." Psalm 34:19

"Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits - who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles." Psalm 103:1-5

"When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, asking for help. 'Lord,' he said, 'my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering.' Jesus said to him, 'I will go and heal him.' The centurion replied, 'Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.'" Matthew 8:5-8

"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is anyone of your sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up." James 3:13-15

"The Lord will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness." Psalm 41:3

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Psalm 147:3

God's original creation, the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve, did not include sickness or death. "God saw all that He had made, and it was very good." (Genesis 1:1) It was not until after they disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit that fear, shame, sickness and death were experienced.

God decides who will be healed, while still living in our earth suit, and who will be healed by passing through to eternal life. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)

In that mystery of God's thoughts and ways, there is an opportunity to trust His character and His Word.
